The Mick Hitchcock, Ph. D. Nevada Proteomics Center has enhanced the center through the generous support of the National Institutes of Health Shared Instrumentation (NIH-SIG) program and the Coronavirus Relief Fund program (CARES).
In June 2021, the Center received funding through the NIH-SIG and with additional support from the Office of Research and Innovation, the Center purchased the Bruker timsTOF Pro2 mass spectrometer and Evosep One LC system to provide protein based clinical diagnostics.
In December 2020, through the generous support of the CARES program, the Center received funding for the purchase of the ThermoFisher Scientific Eclipse mass spectrometer. The Eclipse is a cutting-edge proteomic platform allowing NSHE researchers the ability to expand the experimental scope of COVID-19 research in Nevada.

The Nevada Genomics Center (NGC) is a core facility on campus designed to aid researchers in the study of genes and their function. The center’s goal is to provide quality, timely, and reliable service to research laboratories. The structural and functional genomics services provided include sanger sequencing, next- generation sequencing (NGS), fragment analysis, and various support services including DNA extractions. NGC has recently added a BSL-2 lab allowing the service of extractions from human blood and tissue.
From single sequencing reactions to deep sequencing on a NGS platform, the Nevada Genomics Center can help generate your genomics research data. The center currently provides services for 132 labs in the state of Nevada and 250 additional labs from across the United States, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Europe. The center is happy to address questions you might have about additional services offered and sample prep requirements.
